This was the toughest period of Barry's career. In November 2005, Barry was informed that he had a positive test for testosterone in France. Following its investigation, the Barbados Cycling Union (BCU) concluded that, in view of the medical evidence which provided a possible explanation for the positive test, there was no proof of a doping violation and ,therefore, decided against taking censure or punitive action against Barry. The International Cycling Union rejected the explanation and appealed the BCU's decision to the sporting world's highest court, the Switzerland-based Court of Arbitration for Sport, which dismissed the BCU's decision and declared Barry ineligible for two years and two months beginning December 31, 2005. Barry completed his period of sanction and became eligible to return to competitive cycling on March 1, 2008.
Nobody expected to find Barry's name again on the starting lists of the major sprint races. But yes, Barry is back on track.
